I bought the Van for $ 130.00. I'm putting in a new GEX motor, and an additional $ 500.00 in other parts for it. With all this and about 100 hours of hard work, it's coming along great.

1970 VW Beetle 1600 cc Richard Graham Minerva Wells, West Virginia

Now with my new GEX 1600 cc engine, it makes me feel like I have a new 1970 VW.  It runs as good as it looks.  I love this car.  I turn heads every where I go.  The other day I was in Spencer West Virginia. and some guy came over and was looking at it, he wanted to see inside so I showed him. Then he went around back and I lifted the hood, when he saw the engine you would never believe what a face he made and said wow!!  That is brand new and I feel good to show it off.

I recently rebuilt this '74 Super Beetle for my daughter, as her first car. It's been a lot of fun for both of us. Although it was high mileage and pretty rough, it was solid except for the transmission, which I replaced with a rebuilt GEX. Service was excellent and quality appears so too. We'll probably be buying a new GEX engine within the next year.

Have owned this car since 1977. Bought from a family member in Orange County. It survived 2 years in Big Sur. Has all the original interior including floor mats. Repainted original in 1981. Horst's German Car Repair in Atascadero, CA. installed a 1600 GEX long block, so far, so good.

Almost everything replaced. Installed 1835 Engine from GEX last year and just purchased custom Late-Model Transmission with custom gearing. Pete has been an excellent source of information and I would definitely purchase and recommend GEX in the future. Custom balanced 1835 w/Hydraulic lifters. Transmission w/Lower 4th gearing. Dual oil filters w/External cooling. New paint, racing seats, 5 pt harness, interior roll bar, and full VDO instruments.

About 15 yrs. ago Towed it home in pieces. Since then, I've Cut, Chapped, and welded my creation. It been rewired from the ground up. 6 pt. roll cage, decent stereo, the tires are Michelin 205/70r15 front. and Good Year "Pikes Peak Specials" 29.5 x 11.5 x 15 rear, with steel Wheels. I Like it as a Rolling Billboard. When the Denver Broncos went to the Super Bowl it was Tiger Stripper Orange/Blue/White. Just before Dale Earnhadt won Daytona it became "The Good Fan". Desert Storm - Camouflage etc. Its had 9 paint jobs. 4 Engines to 5 speedometers, 3 sets of seats. "I just love my Trugster"
